Maybrook Engine Company No. 1, Inc. proudly protects around 4,000 people living in an area of 4.2 square miles which includes the Village of Maybrook, Town of Montgomery and partial section of the Town of New Windsor known as the New Windsor Fire Protection District. We operate out of 1 station that protects a combination of residential housing, apartments and commercial buildings along with a busy State Road and Interstate highway. We operate 2 Engines, 1 Ladder, 1 Tanker, 1 Heavy Rescue, 1 Mini Rescue, 1 Brush Truck, 1 Traffic Management/Transport Truck and 2 Chief Vehicles. Our department is a private department whose members are on a volunteer status 24 hours, 365 days out of the year. We are part of the Orange County Mutual Aid Plan which allows us to provide help to neighboring communities along with them helping us per request in the time of need.
The Maybrook Engine Company No. 1, Inc. is located in the center of Orange County, New York, approximately 1-1/2 hours north of New York City, off Interstate 84, Exit 5. Our organization is divided into the: Maybrook Engine Company No. 1, Inc. which has been in existance since 1914 and the Maybrook Fire District which has been around since 1985. The fire district owns all apparatus, equipment and the firehouse itself. They govern all apparatus and equipment purchases, building maintenance costs and general operating expenses. The fire district is comprised of a board of commissioners to oversee the fire district.
The Maybrook Engine Company is a public, volunteer organization that is broken-up into the civil and firematic sides. The civil side is responsible for the general business of the company. The firematic side is responsible for all the emergency response operations and training of the engine company.
